Stereoscopic 3D Cinema is a common attraction in many theme parks and entertainment centers (also see the Cinema 3D page on our site) that has been enriched with other sensorial experiences (dynamic seats, air sprays, etc.) bringing to the definition of the so-called "4D Cinema" and "5D Cinema".
SpinVector, a company born in the video game business, adds a new dimension to cinema: interactivity.
SpinVector's interactive halls use several systems to allow the interaction of the audience with the 3D movie: the actions of the people affect the projection in real-time. The result is a hall with a large screen with objects that pop out, floating above the audience, with the additional possibility to interact with the projection! The whole audience (or part of them) can, for instance, drive a car or a starship in a 3D environment in real time. It's not about little decision in peculiar moments, but a real, continuous interaction with the 3D projection, just like in a video game, but with the full 3D quality and definition of a stereoscopic movie. Interactive 3D Projection at Technotown An example of this kind of installation is the "3D Adventures" hall in Technotown where up to three teams of eight player take part in the space trip of a virtual starship.
The installation is made of a dedicated computer with special SpinVector software, a 3D projection system, a Motion Capture system for eight users, a big 3D projcetion screen and a Dolby Surround audio system.
